Tip 24: Creating 3D Profiles in PhotoModeler

PhotoModeler Create 3D Profile VideoIn this tip video we show how to create a 3D profile of a PointMesh in PhotoModeler.

A 3D profile is like a contour line but instead of being a line from a set of regularly-spaced heights, it is a single line at any orientation defined by the user. It is the 3D curve that results from intersecting a plane with the surface.

In the 3D view window you draw a line – that line defines a plane that intersects any visible trigulated meshes in the 3D view, and creates a new 3D profile curve. Profiles can be exported, measured and viewed in 3D views and the contour table.

Profiles are useful in many applications in geology, mining, civil engineering, surveying and forensics.
