Software License Definitions

  • A Permanent License allows you to run a copy of PhotoModeler on one computer and does not expire or time out. It includes one year of free support within the terms of our support policy and free updates. Support and updates are available with an optional Maintenance Agreement in years 2 and later.
  • A Monthly Subscription allows you to run a copy of PhotoModeler on one computer for one month. The subscription auto-renews on the month anniversary of purchase until canceled (or until the credit card fails to process the renewal transaction fee). Cancellation is easy. It includes free support within the terms of our support policy and free updates while the Subscription is active.
  • A Yearly Subscription allows you to run a copy of PhotoModeler on one computer for one year. The subscription auto-renews on the year anniversary of purchase until cancelled (or until the credit card fails to process the renewal transaction fee). Cancellation is easy. It includes free support within the terms of our support policy and free updates while the Subscription is active.
  • While all above licenses are for one user on one computer, there is a capability to move a license between computers on an infrequent basis (i.e. replacing with newer computer, or reformatting hard drive).

Subscription Renewal Period

  • Monthly Subscription – the Subscription renews automatically on the same day of the month as the purchase date. The period ends at midnight (your computer’s local time). Cancellation, if needed, is just one click.
  • Yearly Subscription – the Subscription renews automatically on the same day anniversary as the purchase date. The period ends at midnight (your computer’s local time). Cancellation, if needed, is just one click.
  • Start date:  Note the subscription starts on the day you receive your activation code (right away typically) and expires/renews on the day one month or 12 months hence. Start/end times are not based on the installation time or the time the activation code was entered into the software. The time zone for dates are based on Eastern Time (ET) (UTC-5).

Notification Emails

  • Permanent Licenses – An email is received on a successful processing of an order through the online store. If the purchase was not made through the PhotoModeler online store, then there are no automated notification emails.
  • Monthly Subscription – An email is received on a successful processing of an order through the online store. An email is received on each renewal date (each month) when the credit card has been successfully charged. It is important for you to ensure your preferred email address is up to date in the online store.  Emails are also sent if the renewal payment fails.
  • Yearly Subscription – An email is received on a successful processing of an order through the online store. An email is received on the year anniversary when the credit card has been successfully charged. It is important for you to ensure your preferred email address is up to date in the online store.  Emails are also sent if the renewal payment fails.

Subscription Cancellations

Cancellations are initiated by the customer using their PhotoModeler store account (My Account/Subscriptions). After logging on and finding the appropriate Subscription record, you can cancel it with a single click on the Cancel button.  After cancellation auto-renewal payments stop.   • Permanent Licenses – No cancellation. See Refunds.
  • Monthly Subscription – Can cancel at any time. The software runs and license is valid until the end of the current month period. See Refunds.
  • Yearly Subscription – Can cancel at any time. The software runs and license is valid until the end of the month in which cancellation occurs. See Refunds.
  • If you cancel your subscription using the controls on the PhotoModeler store account, you will not be able to reactivate the subscription without contact to the PhotoModeler sales department. You can purchase a new Subscription (with new activation code) any time after the expiry of your cancelled one. We hope to improve this.

Refunds

  • Permanent Licenses – 30 day no questions asked money-back guarantee with full refund. Must return license to server first.
  • Monthly Subscription – Eos will refund price of one month subscription, if monthly subscription is canceled within 3 days of a renewal. Must return license to server first. See Scenarios below.
  • Yearly Subscription – a) Eos will refund full price of one year subscription, if yearly subscription is canceled within 6 days of a renewal. Must return license to server first. b) Otherwise Eos will refund price of one year subscription on a prorated basis. The prorated period for refund starts at the end of the month period in which the cancellation occurs. Must return license to server first. See Scenarios below.

Subscription Cancellation and Refund Scenarios

Here are a few of examples of the steps for canceling a Subscription. See Notification emails above.

  • Monthly Subscription 1: Purchase date Jan. 14,2017. Automatically renews and payment processed on your card on the 14th of every month. You cancel on June 2nd. Your subscription and license will be valid until June 14th. Your credit card will not be charged on June 14th or forward.
  • Monthly Subscription 2: Purchase date Jan. 14,2017. Automatically renews and payment processed on your card on the 14th of every month. You cancel on June 15th (within the 3-day notification period in this case). You will receive an email from PhotoModeler sales with next steps. You will be asked to return your license to the server and when that is complete you will receive a full refund for the June 14th payment (this may take up to a week to appear on your credit card statement). Your automatic payments will stop.
  • Yearly Subscription 1: Purchase date Jan. 14,2017. Automatically renews and payment processed on your card on the Jan. 14th of every year. You cancel on Jan. 18, 2018 (within 6-day notification period in this case). You will receive an email from PhotoModeler sales with next steps. You will be asked to return your license to the server and when that is complete you will receive a full refund for the automatic payment that processed on Jan. 14th, 2018 (this may take up to a week to appear on your credit card statement). Your automatic payments will stop.
  • Yearly Subscription 2: Purchase date Jan. 14,2017. Automatically renews and payment processed on your card on the Jan. 14th of every year. You cancel on June 2nd, 2018. You will receive an email from PhotoModeler sales with next steps. You will be asked to return your license to the server and when that is complete you will receive a prorated refund for June 14th, 2018 to Jan. 14, 2019 (this may take up to a week to appear on your credit card statement). Your automatic payments will stop.

Subscription Renewal Credit Card Failure

  • If a credit card transaction fails on a renewal date, the customer will be informed by email. The software will not run (or at user’s choice revert to demo) after the expiry date of the Subscription. This can be remedied on the online store or by contacting the sales group (sales@photomodeler.com), and then on next run of software (with internet connection) the renewed license will be downloaded and the software will run. Note if revert to demo was chosen above then a full reactivation of the license will be required after remedy on the store.

Switching Between License Types

  • To switch between different Subscription license types, or between a Subscription and a Permanent license, the current Subscription must be canceled and a new Subscription (or Permanent license) purchased. See Cancellation above. A new activation code will be provided which must be installed in the software.

Multiple License Orders

  • If you change the quantity of Subscriptions ordered on the store, you get that many licenses for that many computers all expiring at the same time. You do not get that many periods.  I.e.  If you purchase quantity 3 PhotoModeler Scanner Monthly subscriptions you do not get 3 months of run time, you get 3 separate licenses each with unique activation code that all expire in one month.  Only suitable if you are buying subscriptions for multiple computers.

Internet Requirements

  • Permanent Licenses – The computer running PhotoModeler does not need an Internet connection. A computer, that has internet access, is needed to get updates, and for first time install activation (online or via email). This connected computer does not need to be the computer running the software. With no internet connection, there is no automated check for updates.
  • Monthly Subscription – The computer running PhotoModeler must have an Internet connection at installation and at least once after each monthly renewal date. A connection is also required to return the license on a month refund (see above). Automated check for updates requires an internet connection.
  • Yearly Subscription – The computer running PhotoModeler must have an Internet connection a) at installation, b) at least once a month, and c) at least once during the first run after the yearly renewal date. A connection is also required to return the license on a partial year cancellation (see above) or for a refund. Automated check for updates requires an internet connection.
