Upgrading PhotoModeler

There are two different types of upgrades for your PhotoModeler product.

  1. Upgrading to a new version.
  2. Upgrading to a different product.

Upgrading to a new version

Upgrades to new versions of your PhotoModeler Product (eg. from Standard 2025.0 to Standard 2025.1) are included at no additional cost if your Maintenance is current, or if you have an active Subscription.

Upgrading to a different product

If you wish to upgrade to a different product (eg. Standard to Premium, or Stand Alone to Network) you can purchase and replace your current license. See below for cost and instructions.

If you wish to upgrade a Subscription, a new Subscription must be purchased. For a monthly subscription, you will cancel your subscription and purchase a new subscription or permanent license of the desired product.  For a yearly subscription, if you have a month or more left in the term, you can cancel the subscription and get a pro-rated refund for the period not used. Contact sales@photomodeler.com for details.

The maintenance restarts with your new permanent license purchase (ie. you get a year of included maintenance from the date of purchase of the upgrade).

Cost of Product Upgrade

If you are upgrading or changing to a different product (eg. Standard to Premium, or Stand Alone to Network). This is the formula for the upgrade cost:

  • Upgrade Cost = maintenance catch-up (if needed) + difference in price + $48 usd
  • These are based on permanent licenses and not subscriptions – see above.
  • The Maintenance catch-up is $0 if your maintenance is up-to-date at the time of the order (or within 30 days). You can calculate Maintenance catch-up here.
  • The difference in price is the difference between what you paid for the original product and the product you are upgrading to.

Example.  You own PhotoModeler Standard Standalone, which you paid $998, and you wish to change this license to a PhotoModeler Premium Standalone. Your maintenance has not expired at the time of the upgrade order. The cost would be = ($2298 (Premium price) – $998) + $48 = $1348 usd.

Do note, if your PhotoModeler maintenance has been expired for some time the cost can be quite high and with the formula above, it might end up costing less to purchase a new license. The sales team will note this in this case.

Ordering a Product Upgrade

To order a product upgrade, please email sales@photomodeler.com and a sales team member will provide you with an accurate quote and instructions for how to order. Please include your serial number with the email so we can look up your records.

Note that you will need to return your license to the PhotoModeler servers (all copies if installed in multiple locations) after your purchase. We will then cancel that license and send you a license code for the new product to you.
