PhotoModeler Reduces Costs for Remote Property Assessment
PhotoModeler has been implemented at BC Assessment to update procedures within the resource-intensive task of collecting dimensional information from buildings and major structural features at property sites. BC Assessment is a Crown Corporation reporting to the Government of BC. BC has a population of over 4 million residents in an area of just under 1 million square kilometers. Photographs are collected by a private aerial contractor working on behalf of BC Assessment.
Scott Sitter, Deputy Assessor, BC Assessment describes, “We are a Crown Corporation that provides uniform assessments for property taxation purposes throughout British Columbia, Canada. As a taxpayer funded agency we are continually seeking effective and efficient means of fulfilling our mandate. PhotoModeler has allowed us to transform our method of inspecting remote petroleum properties. Airplanes have replaced pick-up trucks and aerial photographs have replaced paper, pens, and measuring tapes. The adoption of PhotoModeler has allowed us to reduce costs significantly and increase our effectiveness.”
