What are the minimum requirements to run PhotoModeler and PhotoModeler Scanner?

PhotoModeler and PhotoModeler Scanner are supported on these operating systems:

   - Windows 7 (32bit and 64bit)

   - Vista (32bit and 64bit)

   - Windows XP (32bit)

PhotoModeler may run on other versions of Windows that are not listed above, but issues with video and interface drivers, etc. may be more common.

The minimum system requirements are 800 Mhz Pentium, 512MB RAM, 200MB hard disk space, CD-ROM drive (4X+), 1024x768 screen with 24 bit color and sound hardware for the video tutorials.

To create your own models, a method of capturing images is required, such as a digital camera, scanner, or video capture board.

Note that there are 32bit and a 64bit versions of PhotoModeler and PhotoModeler Scanner.  What version is best for you?

First check what version of Windows you're running. See this for instructions on checking your Windows version.

If you have a 64bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7 we recommend installing the 64bit version of PhotoModeler; if you have a 32bit version of Windows you may only install the 32bit version of PhotoModeler.

The 64bit version of PhotoModeler when running on a 64bit version of Windows will have access to more RAM (a lot more) than the 32bit version. Because a 64bit application has access to more memory resources, it can handle large projects (large in photo number and large in photo resolution) better than 32bit. This can translate into speed improvements, but mostly improves reliability. You won't notice much difference when working on say a 5 photo (each 5mp) project.   Your CPU on the other hand will have a direct impact on program speed.

So, if you plan to work with large projects, get a lot of RAM, and a fast CPU, and the 64bit version of Windows (which is the de facto OS these days anyways).
