Problems moving a PhotoModeler Scanner license (Meshing license) |
|
|
The License move feature in some cases may be unstable, and can cause problems writing license related files on the destination computer. The problems are usually related to the Meshing component of the license, and seem to occur more often when running PhotoModeler Scanner on the Vista operating system, but so far we have not been able to establish a consistent pattern for the problem (ie in some cases it works flawlessly on any operating system, and sometimes the move fails). The problem results in a lost Meshing license, with error messages appearing on next launch like "Meshing License Alias Problem...". Or the license appears in the (License Management dialog) to revert to Trial mode, or appears as unactivated. 1. Install the PhotoModeler Scanner application on the 'new' computer. Make sure you run a Check for Updates to update to the most recent version of PMScanner - v6.3.3. 2. Please copy this license file to your PhotoModeler Scanner Application Data folder. Right click link and choose "Save as...", browse to the license folder and replace the old license: Vista/7: C:\Users\<your windows account name>\AppData\Local\PhotoModeler Scanner XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<your windows account name>\Local Settings\Application Data\PhotoModeler Scanner (you may need to "Show hidden files and folders", check your File Explorer's Options if these folders do not appear) ===================================================== Once the new license file is in place on the new computer, the license information from the 'old' computer will be more reliably written to the 'new' license, and should result in a successful move. However, if you run into any trouble while moving the license, please contact Technical Support and we'll do our best to assist you. |
